Medication Management
What is Medication Management?
Medication Management is important in insuring that high powered medications help treat the pain, without creating further problems.
The use of Analgesics or pain relievers has been the most common method for treating chronic pain. However, these drugs do not work in all cases. There are many options medical providers have to choose from based on the cause of pain or disease. Some common pain management pain relievers are (NSAIDs) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Opioids are another common form of pain relievers.
Opioids are most useful for acute pain such as after a surgical procedure, but can be reserved for chronic pain cases when other pain relievers have not worked and when the side effects are manageable. Muscle relaxants, topical ointments such as lidocaine creams & patches, corticosteroids, and Antirheumatics are further examples of pain relievers used in the management of chronic pain. All of these options will be closely monitored by a licensed & certified Sound Pain Alliance medical provider.
